Each summer we deepen our impact in the local community by lending our time and resources to a worthwhile cause. In fact, we’ve made a tradition of hosting twice-yearly donation drives to benefit local nonprofits. So far we’ve collected non-perishable food items, hygiene items, winter coats, pet food and supplies, and socks for local nonprofits who can connect these goods with recipients in need.
This summer, we’re thrilled to partner with BookGive to collect new and used books. These donations will help BookGive fulfill book requests they receive from nonprofits, schools, and individuals in the Metro Denver area. This donation drive will also help stock their Free Book Room!
FREE Denver-themed Greeting Cards for Book Donors
As a thank you, we’re gifting a FREE three-pack of blank greeting cards with Denver-themed art – perfect for birthday wishes, thank you notes, or just a general day-brightening. Our in-house illustrator, Morgan, created this Denver-themed greeting card. It features such Mile High icons as craft beer, the cash register building, mountains, sunshine, and a couple of true-blue public art characters you may recognize. The FREE three-pack will include three cards and three envelopes.
What kind of books are acceptable to donate?
BookGive has spelled out very specific guidelines as to what book donations are useful to them, and what are not. Please respect these guidelines to help keep everyone’s volunteer efforts as fruitful and effective as possible! Find BookGive’s full guidelines here.
Requested books:
- Board books (for babies)
- Children’s books
- Young adult
- Adult fiction
- General nonfiction
- Biographies and memoirs
- Large print books
- Books in Spanish
- Books that appeal to general readers
Please do NOT donate any of the following:
- Expired or outdated nonfiction books
- Bibles, manuals, encyclopedias or magazines
- Books in poor condition
Dropoff Details
You can drop off items at YellowDog on Mon-Fri during our regular business hours (9am-5pm) throughout July. The dropoff location is at YellowDog, address 3881 Steele Street Suite 1242, Denver, CO 80205 in the York Street Yards warehouse complex in Northeast Denver.
