YellowDog is excited to share that we have officially renewed our certification status as a Certifiably Green Denver Business, completing emissions reductions and continuous improvement projects this past year to get there. We were first certified in 2017 and have worked hard to maintain or status ever since.
What We’ve Been Working On:
- We have hired a summer fellow for a temporary sustainability operations role. She is working full-time on projects on our sustainability “wish-list” as well as using her background to consult and implement projects that provide additionality to the company.
- We have developed an Environmentally Preferable Purchasing plan, an internal document that outlines how employees should mindfully purchase office supplies, new equipment, and rate new suppliers.
- We are happy to report a 15% reduction in electricity usage since 2019!
- We are also continuing to increase our waste diversion rate (the amount of waste that stays out of the landfill by recycling, repurposing, or using a closed loop system!) and seeing annual waste reduction since 2019. Yay!
About Certifiably Green Denver:
CGB is a program that advises businesses on their sustainability goals and recognizes those that complete a set of criteria in energy efficiency, water conservation, resource conservation, alternative transportation and business management. They promote the notion that sustainability is more than just a trend – it’s good business. Learn more about CGD here.
There’s always more to learn.
As we continue on our sustainability journey, it is clear that there is always more to learn and new ways to improve. We are grateful to be part of a community like Denver that encourages the integration of sustainability and business practices.
