Lend a paw with YellowDog this Women’s History Month!

We’re collecting menstrual hygiene products throughout March.

YellowDog’s second annual Period Positive Hygiene Drive aims to increase access to the essentials that anyone who menstruates (that’s 1.8 billion people worldwide!) needs every month. Donations will be distributed in our very own neighborhood through Clayton Cares Market.

Why a period drive?

Because no one should have to choose between buying groceries and menstrual supplies.

  • Period poverty—the inability to afford or access menstrual products—affects the basic needs of women as well as transgender and non-binary individuals.
  • Two thirds of menstruators in the United States cannot afford period products, often missing school and work due to lack of supplies.
  • Period products are not covered by basic welfare programs.
  • As of May 2024, 20 states tax hygiene products. (Colorado is not one of them, however some cities in Colorado still do!)

Every period drive donation helps to offset this burden, supporting our neighbors in living their fullest lives.

Requested items

Please bring these individually wrapped menstrual hygiene products that meet the greatest need:

  • Sanitary pads (maxi and regular)
  • Tampons (light, regular, super)
  • Panty-liners
  • Hygiene wipes
  • Unisex underwear

By the numbers

YellowDog period drive results: 3,584 menstrual hygiene products stacked up together.

The American Medical Association recommends changing a pad or tampon every four hours. If the average person menstruates for five days, they’d need 30 pads or tampons per cycle.

In 2024, our first annual Period Positive Hygiene Drive collected 3,584 items, specifically 3,239 pads and tampons. Thanks to our generous community’s support, we provided 108 people a one month supply of menstrual hygiene products!

Let’s outdo ourselves in 2025. Donate to our period drive and help us collect supplies to support EVEN MORE Denverites with dignity and equity.

A gift of gratitude

To thank you for supporting the second annual Period Positive Hygiene Drive, we’re giving away a FREE original sticker sheet for every donation. YellowDog Office Manager (and the heart and mind behind this period drive) Sara-Lou Klein illustrated these delightful critter stickers to brighten your day and spread the message of community support. You can find more of Sara Lou’s art at Bird Head Creations, and say hello when you come to drop off your donation!

Sticker sheet featuring illustrations of hearts, flowers, a bee, a cat, a white owl with a pink bow, a black and white dog and a small yellow bird.
