20 Sticker Ideas You’ve Got to Try Right Now

With their twinge of nostalgia and practicality, stickers are mini pieces of art–a fan-favorite medium for any message.

YellowDog is located in beautiful Denver, Colorado, which is, in fact, the Nalgene capital of the world. (In fact, this is not a true fact. I made it up). Every reusable water bottle is a blank canvas, and, around here, that means a LOT of available real estate just waiting for the perfect STICKER.

Whether you’re a small business owner, an artist, an organized adult or young at heart, give these sticker ideas a whirl to promote your brand, tell a joke, or just make someone smile.

1. Blank space = free marketing

As a business owner, you can look at any blank space as a free advertising opportunity with the help of stickers. When creating your logo, keep in mind how it might read as a sticker (Pro-tip: get professional design help for best results).  Now get that perfectly legible, unique logo of yours out there and confidently stick it to stuff!

2. QR code stickers

Making a QR code sticker might be the ultimate blend of digital and tangible. Place a QR code sticker on or near any object that you would like users to interact with or learn more about on their smartphones. A QR code sticker helps provide detailed information when space is limited.

3. Gotta catch ‘em all!

Give people a reason to get more of your stickers by creating a themed collection or set. Then, if you’re lucky, one of your stickers will become ultra rare and sell for a million dollars on eBay.

4. Sticker rolls

At YellowDog we have the ability to print rolls of stickers (in sets of 1,000). They’re a quick and easy way to apply stickers to products or hand out to patrons like candy. (Note: please don’t eat stickers like candy.)

5. Reflective stickers

What’s more fun than a regular sticker? A shiny one! Our light-reflective vinyl stock is perfect for safety applications and, better yet, they’re great for making your brand stand out.

6. Business cards with a twist

Why leave behind when you can stick behind? Turn your business card into a stickable form factor and guarantee your contact information won’t be lost. Ask us about the best backing options for quick and easy application.

7. Guerrilla marketing

Influential street artist Shepard Fairey got his start by creating stickers of his iconic logo and sticking them around New York City. NOT that we’re not encouraging vandalism… use your best judgment and stick responsibly. Vinyl stickers are best for this application since the material holds up well against the elements.

8. Pack-ins

If your business frequently ships products, why not include a sticker in the box? It’s the ideal light-weight, packable unexpected surprise that’ll add a little pizzazz to your customers’ unboxing experience. Try a sticker of your logo, a generic message (“Have a sunny day!”) or a super specific one (“I bought my dog’s sunglasses at Ziggy’s Dog Sunglasses.”), or a sticker sheet with a variety of branded graphics.

9. Organize at scale

So you’ve fully organized your warehouse, sifting inventory, supplies, and obscure tools into just the right bin (or drawer, shelf, or closet). Don’t ruin it with sloppy labels (or worse–none at all!). Print custom labels to keep everything clear and organized. With any luck, the rest of your team will actually read them and you can preserve your perfect system until spring cleaning time rolls back around.

10. Repeated writing

Do you find yourself writing the same thing over and over again? Turn it into a sticker and save yourself some time! Think beyond the good old return address sticker. Sticky to-do list? Sticky signature? Sticky love notes or friendly reminders? Pro tip: Use a paper sticker here since it’s more eco-friendly and works better for sticking to other paper surfaces.

11. Commemorate your event

We all love a commemorative token to remember any number of important life events, like a birthday, bachelorette party, or bat mitzvah. Pass out stickers for your next fun event. It’s cheaper than clothing and doesn’t clog up your already full “shirts I only wear to the gym” drawer.

12. Call to action

Take advantage of the sticker’s naturally pervasive qualities to encourage action like “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” “Be Kind, Rewind,” or “I voted! And you should too.”

13. Get big. Get weird.

We all recognize stickers as being generally oval-ish (or square-ish) and small-ish. But who said it has to be that way?! At YellowDog, we can make stickers of any shape or size you desire! Especially with large-format stickies like floor decals. So get big. Get weird. Make a foot-wide, die cut sticker of your dog wearing Ziggy’s Sunglasses and stick it on the floor of their dog house.

14. Calendars

Make a large vinyl sticker with a full year calendar to place on your work desk. Or create sticker squares with events to place on your pre-existing paper calendar. If you’re like my mom who hand writes the same annual events on her yearly calendar, save yourself some time and get a sheet printed with those same events for every upcoming year.

15. The modern wax seal

The old is new again, and wax seals of yesteryear seem to be in the upswing of trends. But applying a wax seal involves a lot. Too much if you ask me. Instead, seal your envelope with a sticker–of your logo, tagline, or a sticker of a wax seal! A custom kiss-cut sticker (for easy peeling and application) is a great way to seal small packages.

16. Easy branding

Don’t have the funds or time to get a custom product made for your business or brand? Slap a sticker on a generic, off-the-shelf object and you suddenly have branded merch or consumables. Put a logo sticker on a coffee cup sleeve and your coffee shop now has branded cups!

17. Corrections & updates

Seasons change and so do menus items. If your cafe or shop has a custom menu but you change some items with the seasons (i.e. pumpkin spice [anything]), make the changes using a sticker. Instead of reprinting the entire menu, have a large custom stickers made to alter the seasonal sections. This works for store hours, name changes or even typos.

18. Stickerfy It!

“Stickerfy” is my made up term for turning your beloved possession, hobby, or pet into a sticker. My darling dog isn’t allowed into all businesses, so my wife and I had a sticker made of her in an astronaut suit, and now she can travel with us wherever we go (on her water bottle rocket ship). We’d recommend a die cut sticker (custom cut sticker where the backer is the same size and shape as the sticker) to perfectly replicate the shape of your object and… Stickerfy It!™

19. From the window to the wall…

Window graphics are an effortless way to quickly spruce up your business (or home for that matter). Our easy-to-apply vinyl is the perfect way to make your storefront or window displays pop! A custom wall decal is the affordable approach to interior branding. Our wall decals are repositionable and ideal for the individual who has a hard time committing to big design decisions (it’s me, hi.).

20. Sticker Stand

Lemonade stands are so last year. Get with the times and try a roadside sticker stand! When it comes to selling anything, stickers are never a bad option. Why do you think they’re always available at any gas station, theme park, convention, or gift shop. According to market research the die cut sticker market is forecasted to have a 3.3% CAGR growth from 2024 to 2030. Who knew stickers were big enough to get their own market research?!

Stickers are a great way to express your unique identity or interests, be conversation starters, or “tattoos” for your wares. And we happen to know a guy in the sticker business (that’s us–we’re the guy). So when you’re ready to stickerfy your dog, brand your cups or start your empire, we’re ready to make it happen.
