Books, please!

September means crisp new school supplies, first-day outfit upgrades and a whole new reading list. Sounds like a good time to make some shelf space! Luckily, we’re here to help take those extra books off your hands. We promise they’ll go to a good home (not just shipped to a mystery “farm” upstate).

YellowDog is partnering with BookGive for our third annual Dog-Eared Pages Book Drive, and we need your help!

Just bring your new and gently used books to YellowDog next time you’re in the neighborhood. All donations will help BookGive fulfill requests they receive from nonprofits, schools and individuals in Denver and beyond. This donation drive will also help stock their Free Book Room!

Trade you bookmarks for books

As a thank you, we’re gifting a FREE variety pack of dog-eared bookmarks when you donate three books. Keep your favorite books nice and donation-ready with these mini die-cut delights!

Did we mention we designed and printed these babies right here at YellowDog??

Help us beat our goal

This is the third year of our book drive, and we’re building a donation dynasty thanks to your generosity. We collected 377 books in 2023 and 1,052 in 2024. Let’s come together and double our haul again this year!

What kind of books are acceptable to donate?

Newish and gently loved books only, please. Sure, a dog-eared page here and there is no big deal, but please don’t take our cutesy event title too literally. Follow BookGive’s guidelines to help keep everyone’s volunteer efforts as fruitful and effective as possible.

Requested books:

  • Board books (for babies)
  • Children’s books
  • Young adult
  • Adult fiction
  • General nonfiction
  • Biographies and memoirs
  • Large print books
  • Books in Spanish
  • Books that appeal to general readers

Please do NOT donate any of the following:

  • Expired or outdated nonfiction books
  • Textbooks, comic books, encyclopedias, technical guides
  • Bibles, manuals, encyclopedias or magazines
  • Tattered, torn or otherwise damaged books
  • Magazines (they’re not even books…)

About BookGive

BookGive is a Denver book charity that sparks a lifelong love of reading by fueling the community with free books. They distribute new and gently used books from our service station to individuals, schools, and nonprofits throughout metro Denver.

YellowDog has worked with the amazing individuals behind BookGive for years. We’ve collaborated with the wizard behind the curtain, Nicole Sullivan, on branding for her empire – BookBar, BookGive, The Bookies, Read Club Hub, and Views from the West Press. We’ve loved creating incredible pieces for all of these businesses and are always looking forward to Nicole’s next big idea.
